Can you tell I like the book?! I would imagine it gives a good foundation to engineers looking audi create solid mixes. User Review – Flag as inappropriate I recently received three books from Focal press that deal with the art of mixing audio. Roey Izhaki teaches you the importance of a mixing vision, how to craft and evaluate your mix and then take it a step further.
Maybe I’m just that much of an audio geek, but Roey Izhaki explains everything in such a clear, accessible manner, and illuminates so many areas that can be mysterious to those trying to learn about mixing, that this book becomes just a joy.

The book describes the theory, the tools used, and how these are put into practice while creating mixes. Audio mixing covers the basic concepts and practices including popular conceptions and misconceptions ixhaki mixing music, such as ‘louder izhaji as better’, ‘mixing analysis’, ‘the importance of the mix’ and so on.
Gain invaluable mixing knowledge
I cannot add more than what’s been written about this book’s superlatives. This thing must average at least one proofreading mistake on every page! I’m a big fan of the demo songs for mixing practice. The latest mastering techniques and gear currently used by top mastering engineers today. I thought I knew something about compressors, etc. Even if you “know it all”, I recommend this book for 3 chapters, Compression, Reverb, and Gates-Expanders.
Whether a hobbyist of professional this book covers basic concepts to advanced techniques as well as tips and tricks and is a vital read for anyone wanting to succeed in the field of mixing.

Most books are either too detailed with no real appeal to readers, or too specific and within a year or two would be considered terribly outdated. The Mixing Engineer’s Handbook 4th Edition. The first book review is for this great zihaki called mixing audio by Roey Izhaki. The author dives deep into technical details but in a friendly non-intimidating way that helps demystify some difficult concepts.
I’ve owned and operated a small commercial project recording studio. New to this edition: I believe the straightforward writing style while not always with the best grammarthe range of topics covered and the all revealing audio examples make this book a great choice. Learn the step by step adio for using reverb in you Let’s face it, you can’t just write about audio mixing, you must provide examples and this book delivers tons of them.
Looking at practices, concepts, tools and mixing instruments the author provides a comprehensive insight to the art and science of mixing. Mechanical and bar meters.
I certainly expected better for the price. The accompanying DVD holds hundreds of audio examples that add an invaluable depth to the reading.
